Winter is a great time to visit Lakeside Lodge. It becomes a birder’s paradise with the arrival of the Bald Eagles, Golden-cheeked Warblers, and the Black-capped Vireo. The shorebirds are here also. White Pelicans, Great Blue Heron, Seagulls, Osprey, and many more species. A 2-½ hour scenic river cruise is just 3 miles away. Cruise times vary. www.vtrc.com

SUMMER means the heat is on and Lakeside Lodge is cool. Swim in big beautiful Lake Buchanan or just sit in the shade on our grand patio and dock and enjoy the summer breezes off the lake. Weather permitting the Vanishing Texas River Cruise offers a 2 ½ hour dinner cruise on Saturday evening in addition to its regular daily boat rides. FALL brings cooler weather for hiking, more birding, the Monarch Butterflies and the subtle changes of the Hill Country foliage. Fall is a perfect time of year for riding motorcycles through the Hill Country.
